Sicily has numerous beaches on its coastal cities. This is an island of contrasts, where you'll find golden sand beaches, dark sand beaches, volcanic rocks, coves where you can enjoy an isolated day at the beach... there are so many possibilities you have for your beach holiday in Sicily! The beaches on the Island of Sicily are very unique. You'll find golden sand beaches, small rocky coves, natural pools of crags with lava... Sicily have over 1,500 km of coastline.
In the area of Palermo, Marsala, or Trapani, you'll discover white and golden fine sand beaches. There is Siculiana Marina Beach, or beaches in the Province of Agrigento, where the beaches have waves and wind that make them ideal for windsurf, and kitesurf. You'll find numerous terraces that have been sculpted by the wind, sand dunes, and ample spaces to explore.
To the north of the island you'll see Trapani Beach, where San Vito Lo Capo, one of the most important tourist complexes of the region, is located. There are many hotels, aparthotels, spas, and crystal clear and clean waters where you can spend a day bathing in the sea and Mediterranean sun. In the same famous area is the Gulf of Castellmammare where the Natural Park is situated, as well as isolated beaches and pretty natural spaces.
In the north is also the Palermo beaches, of which are divided into varyious kinds, urban, semi-urban, and isolated. All of them have their special charm. From the most fishing village beaches where you'll find restaurants specializing in fish and seafood, to Cala Gallo where you can snorkel... to Cefalu Beach with its white and golden sand, complete with beach bars... one of the most frequented beaches in the country.
On the east coast of Sicily are the beaches of Messina, Siracusa, and others. In the northeast is Capo di Orlando on the seashore of San Gregorio. There you can enjoy beautiful sunsets. This beach is volcanic, and in the vicinity are natural lakes.
To the south are beaches like Taomina, one of the more touristy parts of the island, as it is a beach protected by its shape, and makes for soft waves, ideal for the family, snorkeling, and enjoyment.
In the area of Siracusa or Catania, there are numerous volcanic coves and isolated beaches that are surrounded by abundant vegetation. Here you'll see mixed beaches with rocks with those of sand, and others with boulders. It is a pertty place to see.
Outside of the main island of Sicily, there are the Aeolian Islands, Aegadian Islands, Pelagie Islands, or Pantelleria Island, which have their own beaches, nature, and activities such as scuba diving, and of course, trying out the fresh fish and seafood in their restaurants. |
