Exhibits and monuments on the island of Sicily. Go sightseeing on your holidays here. As the Phoenicians, Cartagineans, Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Arabs, Norseman, all have passed through here, they have left plenty of monuments and exhibits for you to see.

Lets begin with Palermo, the capital of Sicily, where you can see the Capuchinos Catacombs, where you can see mummies, some of which are still in good condition. There is also the Norseman Palace or the Arabic Cathedral, places that have been restored by the Norseman. You can also see the National Museum of Puppets, or the San Juan Church.

If you go to Catania, a locality considered to be a patrimony to humanity by UNESCO, you can see its cathedral, the remains of the theatre and amphitheatre. In Catania, the constant action coming from the Etna Volcano had rained down lava during the Greek and Roman era, but places like Basilica de Saint Nicholas, the Biscari Palace, the Elephant Palace, or the Cathedral of Saint Agueda.

Another city not to be missed is Siracusa, the oldest city in Sicily. It is a place that was founded by the Greeks before the Romans arrived, an imperial city with a Roman ampitheatre, a temple for Zeus and Apolo. The Maniace Castle is another emblematic place to visit in Siracusa.

Other monuments to mention are the ruins of the Pietrarossa Castle in Catalnisseta, in the interior of the island, the Lombardia Castle in Enna, the Cathedral of Saint George or the Castle of the Count of Modica, or the Norseman Castle in Trapani.

There are so many cities in Sicily that, you could spend an entire day looking at each one, monument by monument, like the city of Corleone and its churches, the Roman Ruins in Siracusa, or the castles in Catalnisseta.
